CNBC does a decent job of addressing the growing trend for "boomers" to buy homes in places like Costa Rica. take a look at the video, it doesn't have a lot of content vs. opinion, but it does make some good points. The bottom line: these markets continue to grow despite US-market problems.

Some of the topics that they cover are: financing overseas, buying beach front land and homes through corporations, medical care, and comparing prices to US coastal areas.
