Fortunately, Tamarindo was virtually unscathed by the 6.2 magnitude quake and as far as we know everyone here came through it without incident.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One of the many wonderful things about the Guanacaste coastline is that we have very few natural disasters.  On occasion we suffer light flooding, but most of the floors and walls are made of concrete, so the damage is typically light or none.  Occasionally we have light earthquakes, but unlike the Central Valley, our seems to be lower magnitude and most structures here are either low in height or modern in engineering. That's not much over $100/m2 and is a great bargain.  The lot is surrounded by single-family homes and less than 1/4 mile walk to the beach.  It may require some inexpensive retention work to level out one corner, or you could build the pool there and just backfill.  Lot is bordered on two sides by green zones and has some nice, large trees nearby.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second lot is located less than a mile from the beach, also surrounded by residential homes, and has a little bit of ocean glimpse.  A second-story structure would have a decent ocean view, including Cabo Velas.  The lot is just under 480m2, has a large guanacaste tree against one edge and a nice guaitil tree on the other edge. Neither tree represents problems for building, but they bring monkeys, birds and shade to the lot.
